5-Bedroom Semi-Detached
Our client decided that they’d like to create more space for their family, enabling them to live more comfortably in their beloved home rather than moving to a new property.
Following discussions, we decided that the best course of action would be to add more bedrooms, and create a larger, open-plan communal living space. This would enable the family to socialise and spend more time together.
Our plan was to convert the loft to add two extra bedrooms to the property, construct a rear extension to maximise space, and refurbish the interiors to better meet the client’s preferences.
Unfortunately, an error made by the planning department meant the project got off to a rocky start.
While we knew that the plans we were submitting were within the legal boundaries, the initial application was rejected as the planning department incorrectly categorised the property as an end terrace.
As per the regulations, Permitted Development Rights for terraced houses only apply to conversions under 40 cubic metres. We handled all discussions with the planning department, helping them resolve their mistake and eventually getting approval to move forward with the plan.
Due to the initial planning department error, the project was delayed by one month. However, 5 months later, we reached completion, providing our client with more room for their family.
